In an impressive performance at the 2025 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament, Nolan Owen from Baraboo High School secured a fifth-place finish in the highly competitive 157-pound weight class in Division 1. Held at the Kohl Center in Madison, WI, the tournament saw Owen, seeded seventh, showcasing resilience and skill throughout the event. Nolan commenced his tournament run with a commanding 8-0 major decision over 10th-seeded Carson Kempf of D.C. Everest. Advancing to the quarterfinals, Owen faced a challenging match against undefeated senior Caleb Cady from Pewaukee, the second seed and eventual state champion, which resulted in Owen's only defeat of the tournament. Undeterred, Owen rallied in the consolation bracket, claiming a 15-0 technical fall victory against Demetrius Gaines from Milwaukee Lutheran before marking another win against sixth-seeded Grayden Rode from Marshfield with a score of 10-4. The victory over Rode propelled Owen to the 5th-place match, setting up a rematch with Kempf. In a rigorous battle, Owen emerged victorious with a 4-1 decision, cementing his fifth-place standing and adding to his remarkable season tally of 46-9. This also elevated his varsity career wins total to 119 as he wraps up his junior season. With such remarkable achievements, Owen's upcoming senior season is highly anticipated.
