Thunderbird Boys Golf Secures Runner-up Finish at WIAA Regionals
The Baraboo High School Thunderbirds Boys Varsity Golf team delivered an impressive performance at the WIAA Regionals held at Lake Wisconsin Country Club on May 27, finishing second overall with a commendable score of 326. The standout performances were led by a group of talented freshmen and a junior. Freshman Cooper Jauch tied for 4th overall with a notable score of 80, especially excelling in the back 9 where he finished his last 7 holes even par for a 37. Another freshman, Finnley Schindler, secured a tie for 8th overall with a score of 81. Junior Jon Moon, serving as the team's captain, tied for 10th with an 82, and sophomore Jack Brinker rounded out the strong showing with an 83. Head Coach Landon Brownell commented on the team's success, expressing pride in the Thunderbirds' ability to compete and progress throughout the season: 'This young Baraboo squad is showcasing their ability to compete alongside some good teams. It is a pleasure to work with them and see how they have already progressed individually and as a team.' Looking forward, the Thunderbirds will compete in the WIAA Sectional Tournament on June 03 at Drugan's Castle Mound. The team hopes to carry forward the momentum from the Regionals into this next significant challenge.
