On May 13, 2025, the Baraboo High School Varsity Thunderbirds played a competitive baseball game against the Edgewood Crusaders at Mary Rountree Evans Park. The game, held in warm and sunny conditions, concluded with Edgewood securing a 10-5 victory over the Thunderbirds. Baraboo's starting pitcher, Cyrus Mahoney, took the mound, delivering a performance that lasted five innings where he allowed four hits and six runs. Relief efforts saw pitchers Brady Bauer and Peyton Poker contribute to a total of seven strikeouts for the team. Edgewood's pitching was led by Jack Bishop who allowed only one run across four innings. Offensive highlights for the Thunderbirds included Peyton Poker, who had a standout game with three hits in four at-bats. Owen Rogers also made significant contributions, driving in three runs, including three hits in four at-bats as well. The team tallied a total of 10 hits, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Turning one double play during the game, the Baraboo Thunderbirds displayed solid coordination in the field. However, the day belonged to the Edgewood Crusaders who capitalized on their scoring opportunities. The Thunderbirds now look forward to a rematch against Edgewood on May 15, 2025, hoping for a different outcome at the next game scheduled to be held at Ziggy Park in Madison. With a current season record of 4-12, the Thunderbirds continue to show a high level of competitiveness in the second half of the season.
