Track and Field Teams Receive Vital Donation for Facility Upgrade

In an exciting development for the Baraboo High School Track and Field team, a significant donation was made to enhance the athletic facilities at BHS. The program has received a generous donation of $6,500 aimed at upgrading the shot put sector at Beryl Newman Stadium. This donation was made possible through the support of Chad Sauey and Gretchen Churkey and the W.R. & Floy A. Sauey Family Foundation. This funding made it possible to replace the old "pink granite" material that had become too coarse for the area causing damage to the shot puts. Special thanks were extended to Jeff Blum of JRB Enterprises, Tony Pace, the lead groundsman for the district, and Rodney Tucker from the maintenance department for their exceptional work in removing the old material and installing the new 'QuickPitch' material, which is the same material used in the infield at Pierce Park and is very similar to the sector material used at UW-La Crosse, where the WIAA State Track and Field Meet is hosted each year. Baraboo High School’s Athletics Director Jim Langkamp, Buildings and Grounds Director Dan O'Brien, and Track and Field Head Coaches Julie Faylona and Joe Becraft were all acknowledged for their support and approval of the project. Additionally, Taylor Magee from the athletics administration and Jolene Werth & Rob Johnson of Waupaca Sand Solutions played integral roles in the purchase and delivery process. of the new material. With this new facility upgrade, the Baraboo High School Track and Field team is more equipped than ever to host events and support their athletes in achieving new records.
