AVON, Ohio - Avon scored four second-half goals to pull away from Berea-Midpark for a 6-0 conference victory Wednesday night, with the decisive surge coming after the Titans had limited the Eagles to two goals before halftime.
Senior goalkeeper Mahmoud Mustafa delivered a record-setting performance under sustained pressure, making 25 saves to establish a Berea-Midpark single-match record. The effort surpassed the previous mark of 19 saves set by Ashton Peek against Walsh Jesuit in 2024.
The Titans' defense worked with Mahmoud Mustafa to keep the match within reach throughout the opening half. Avon generated repeated opportunities, but Berea-Midpark held the Eagles to two goals over the first 40 minutes as Mahmoud Mustafa turned away shot after shot.
Berea-Midpark will return home to face North Ridgeville at 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Sept. 16. The Titans will look to build on their first-half defensive resistance while preparing for another conference matchup.
