Berea-Midpark earned a gritty varsity victory Friday as the Titans boys golf team defeated Amherst Steele 168-174 on the Furnace Run course at Seneca Golf Club. The six-stroke win featured a strong performance from sophomore Thomas Harrington, who led the Titans with a 39 and provided the low round Berea-Midpark needed to secure the team result.
With every stroke carrying weight in the final total, Thomas Harrington's sub-40 round set the pace for the Titans. His 39 gave Berea-Midpark a dependable score at the top of the card, while the rest of the varsity lineup combined to keep the team total at 168. Amherst Steele finished at 174, leaving the Titans with a hard-earned win on their home course.
The result reflected a steady team effort under clear skies in Berea. Conditions included light winds around 3 mph and temperatures ranging from 61 to 87 degrees. Berea-Midpark handled those conditions well enough to protect its advantage, with Thomas Harrington's low score standing out as the decisive individual performance.
The Titans also had plenty to celebrate at the junior varsity level. Berea-Midpark's JV squad posted a 174 to defeat Amherst 205, a commanding 31-stroke margin. Luke Silva contributed to that winning performance, with the round highlighted by a 3. Together, the varsity and JV victories made it a successful day throughout the Titans' program.
