BRUNSWICK, Ohio - Senior goalkeeper Mahmoud denies a penalty kick, his second of the season, as the Berea-Midpark boys soccer team earned a 0-0 draw at Brunswick on Monday, Aug. 24. The penalty save proved to be the decisive moment in a match that featured chances at both ends but no breakthrough.
Both teams created scoring opportunities early, forcing the Titans to settle into their defensive shape. Berea-Midpark responded with important stops throughout the first half, and Mahmoud kept Brunswick off the scoreboard as the teams went into halftime tied 0-0.
The Titans' defense remained organized in the second half despite continued pressure from the home side. Mahmoud's penalty-kick save, his second of the season, preserved the tie and highlighted a nine-save performance. The senior goalkeeper and rest of the Titans defense completed their second clean sheet of the season as Berea-Midpark recorded its second consecutive shutout.
The Titans are back in action this Wednesday night at Groza field. Kickoff set for 7:15pm to open up SWC Conference play against Amherst Steele.
