The Berea-Midpark boys golf team set an 18-hole program record with a 313 on Monday at the SWC Preview, overcoming wet conditions at Pine Hills Golf Course behind a medalist performance from senior Oliver Marcelo. The Titans’ top finisher carded an even-par 72, also establishing a school record for an individual 18-hole round.
Oliver Marcelo earned the tournament’s top spot by navigating a course made more demanding by the moisture. With the ball reacting differently on wet fairways and around softened greens, the even-par round gave Berea-Midpark the low score it needed to anchor a record-setting team total. Clear skies and an 81-degree temperature greeted the field at the scheduled 9 a.m. start.
The Titans backed the medalist round with matching 77s from senior Gavin Wagner and sophomore Thomas Harrington. Those two scores kept Berea-Midpark’s team card compact near the top, as the Titans’ first three finishers combined for a 226. The five-stroke spread between the team’s first three scores was central to lowering the program’s 18-hole standard.
Sr. Luke Higgins completed the four counting scores with an 87, giving BMHS and the Titans their final total of 313. Sophomore Luke Silva also shot an 87, while senior Ryley Mason finished with an 88. All six Berea-Midpark golfers broke 90, providing additional depth behind the three rounds in the 70s.
The combination of Oliver Marcelo’s even-par medalist round, the pair of 77s and the fourth counting score produced two milestones in the same tournament: a school record for Oliver Marcelo and a team record for the Titans. Berea-Midpark next travels to face Avon at Bob O Links Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
