BEREA, Ohio - Finn Leary scored the decisive third goal as Berea-Midpark High School defeated North 3-2 in varsity soccer Saturday, Oct. 17, in Berea. Jack Krzys supplied the assist on Leary’s finish, providing the connection that ultimately separated the teams in a match featuring four second-half goals.
Will Collins opened the scoring for the Titans, producing the only goal of the first half. Berea-Midpark paired that finish with a scoreless defensive half to take a 1-0 lead into the break. That one-goal cushion proved important when both attacks found the net after halftime.
Joven Weaver gave the Titans a second-half goal with a header off a corner kick. The set-piece finish added another route to goal for Berea-Midpark, which had three different scorers in the victory. Weaver’s conversion and the Krzys-to-Leary combination accounted for the Titans’ two goals after the break.
North scored twice in the second half, matching Berea-Midpark’s output over the final half but not erasing the advantage established before halftime. The Titans needed all three finishes to secure the one-goal result.
