BEREA, Ohio - Berea-Midpark High School earned a 2-1 soccer victory over Stow on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Berea, with an unassisted goal from T. Watkins and a penalty converted by Harold supplying the second-half scoring. The victory came in the Titans’ 16th match of the season.
Neither team scored in the first half, leaving the match level at the break. The Titans then found two different routes to goal after halftime, producing a finish from open play and capitalizing on a chance from the penalty spot in a half that featured all three goals.
Watkins scored without an assist, while Arnold helped create Berea-Midpark’s other scoring opportunity by winning a penalty. Harold finished that chance, giving the Titans goals from two scorers and a key attacking contribution from Arnold. Those efforts provided the offense needed to finish one goal ahead.
Stow’s lone goal also came on a penalty, making spot kicks a significant part of the second-half action. The Titans allowed no goals from open play. K. Watkins earned Fruit Stand WOTM recognition, adding an individual honor to the team’s winning result.
The result leaves one regular-season match on Berea-Midpark’s schedule before that portion of the campaign concludes. The Titans play next at North Olmsted on Saturday, Oct. 17, to wrap up the regular season.
