Titans Sweep Elyria Behind Strong Serving and Defensive Control

ELYRIA, Ohio - Berea-Midpark shook off a difficult opening stretch and swept the Elyria Pioneers 3-0 on Tuesday, winning 25-23, 25-10 and 25-5. The Titans grew stronger with each set, turning steady serving, determined defense and well-placed attacks into a convincing road victory.
Elyria entered the match with an effective game plan and quickly challenged Berea-Midpark in the first set. The Pioneers applied early pressure before the Titans settled into their rhythm. With little room for error late, Berea-Midpark stayed composed, finished the set strongly and secured a tight 25-23 victory.
The Titans carried that momentum into the second set and established control from the service line. Consistent serves limited Elyria’s attacking options, while Berea-Midpark’s digs kept rallies alive. Smart shots into open areas helped the Titans convert those defensive plays into points, opening a comfortable advantage on the way to a 25-10 win.
Berea-Midpark delivered its most dominant performance in the third set. Ashlyn Anderson powered the Titans with a standout serving run that helped create separation and kept the Pioneers out of system. The Titans capitalized throughout the set, maintaining pressure and closing the sweep with a 25-5 victory.
The varsity result completed an encouraging evening for the program after Berea-Midpark’s junior varsity team also earned a two-set victory. The JV Titans prevailed 25-21 and 25-16, setting a positive tone before the varsity team took the court.
The Titans will look to carry their serving consistency, defensive effort and smart decision-making into their next scheduled match. Berea-Midpark Varsity is back on the road as we take on Walsh (indoors) starting at 5:30.
