DETROIT - Bishop Foley Catholic placed two runners among the top 14 as Gavin Samona and Finnegan McGlinchey led the Ventures at the CHSL Cardinal Division Jamboree No. 1 on Wednesday at Historic Fort Wayne. Samona finished 12th in the 48-runner field with a season-best time of 20 minutes, 9.20 seconds, while McGlinchey followed in 14th at 20:14.80.

The Ventures' leading pair crossed the finish line only 5.6 seconds apart, giving Bishop Foley a compact presence near the front of the standings. Samona set the pace for the team and delivered his fastest performance of the season, while McGlinchey remained close enough to secure another top-15 result.

That narrow separation highlighted the value of pack running for Bishop Foley. Samona and McGlinchey finished within two places of each other, limiting the gap between the Ventures' first two scorers and establishing a strong foundation for the rest of the lineup.

"We ran well. Our team improved. It's always a great day for running."

Otis Pogodzinski added a significant individual result by recording a personal-best time of 22:18.90. His improvement gave the Ventures another performance to build on as the Cardinal Division schedule began. Jeremy Slotnick completed Bishop Foley's group of finishers in 29:53.10.

The race was held under overcast skies with a temperature of 71 degrees and a 6 mph wind. With Samona producing a season best, Pogodzinski setting a personal record and McGlinchey joining Samona in the top 14, the opening jamboree provided Bishop Foley with several concrete benchmarks for the remainder of the season. The next meet for the Ventures is the 58th Annual Holly-Duane Raffin Festival of Races at Springfield Oaks Country Park. This will be on Saturday, September 19th.
