Auburn Hills, Mich. - Bishop Foley Catholic scored 22 points in the first quarter and never surrendered that early advantage, opening its season Friday night with a 35-0 victory over the Oakland Christian Lancers. It all started off with a fumble recovery by Michael Banet. Later, the Ventures scored five touchdowns and a field goal while their defense completed the shutout in partly cloudy, 75-degree conditions.

Captain Robert led Bishop Foley's rushing attack with 216 yards, providing the biggest contribution to a productive night on the ground. Andrew Skok added 89 rushing yards, giving the two players a combined 305. The Ventures also recorded 15 receiving yards while relying heavily on a running game that kept the offense moving.

The decisive stretch came immediately. Bishop Foley's 22-point first quarter created a three-score lead and allowed the Ventures to control the remainder of the game. They added six points in the second quarter to take a 28-0 advantage into halftime, then scored seven more in the third. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

Captain Robert contributed the Ventures' field goal as Bishop Foley spread its 35 points across three quarters. The offensive and defensive lines were central to the result, creating room for the rushing attack and preventing Oakland Christian from reaching the end zone.

The Ventures will return home Sept. 3 to face the Sacred Heart Academy Irish. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
