Bishop Foley Catholic High School scored twice in the second half to secure a 3-1 boys varsity soccer victory over The Trojans on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Clawson. Senior Zachary Niphoratos paired that finishing with eight saves as goalkeeper, building on a one-goal halftime advantage.
Bishop Foley scored the only goal of the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the break. The Ventures added two goals after halftime, while the Trojans scored once in the second half. That 2-1 scoring edge over the final half gave Bishop Foley its two-goal winning margin, with the attack contributing goals in both halves.
Junior Garrett Hathaway, wearing No. 10, contributed to one of the three goals and finished with two points. Hathaway's finish accounted for a third of Bishop Foley's scoring in a match that required production beyond its first-half goal. The Ventures' two additional goals helped turn their narrow halftime lead into a 3-1 result.
At the other end, Niphoratos anchored Bishop Foley's defensive effort in the No. 0 jersey. The senior's eight saves provided a substantial goalkeeping contribution alongside the Ventures' three-goal attack. Clawson finished with one goal, all of its scoring coming after halftime, as Bishop Foley completed the victory.
