Ventures Post Three Personal Bests at Parkway Christian Meet
Grace Sipp led Bishop Foley Catholic with a time of 24 minutes, 30.7 seconds Saturday as the Ventures produced three personal-best performances and one season-best mark at the Parkway Christian meet. Racing on a flat course in mainly clear, 59-degree conditions, Bishop Foley had two runners in the Black Division and three in the Yellow Division.
Sipp, a third-year member of the program, recorded the fastest time among the five Ventures. Nora McGlinchey followed in 25:08.5, setting a personal best in her first cross country season. The two Black Division runners finished 37.8 seconds apart, giving Bishop Foley a closely spaced lead pair in that section of the meet.
The Ventures’ tightest pack finish came in the Yellow Division. Claire Jeakle crossed in 27:13.0, and Zoe Sullivan followed just 1.7 seconds later in 27:14.7. Both first-year runners established personal records, providing Bishop Foley with back-to-back finishers and demonstrating the value of keeping teammates close through the race.
Lorelai Montano completed Bishop Foley’s Yellow Division group with a season-best time of 32:31.3. The fourth-year runner added an experienced presence to a division that also included two athletes in their first seasons. Montano’s improvement gave the Ventures four season or career-best results among their five entries.
The divisional format separated Bishop Foley’s runners, but each group produced significant performances. Sipp and McGlinchey gave the Ventures two sub-26-minute finishes in the Black Division, while Jeakle and Sullivan formed a compact pair in the Yellow Division. With three personal records and Montano’s season best, the Ventures made productive use of the flat course and favorable race conditions.
