Claire Jeakle ran a personal-best 26:53.7 to highlight Bishop Foley Catholic High School’s girls cross country performances Saturday, Oct. 3, at Kensington Metropark. Zoe Sullivan finished in 29:46.1 as the Ventures competed on a very hilly course.
Jeakle was one of two girls in the race to record a personal best, making her performance a notable achievement on the demanding terrain. The hills provided a challenging setting for an improvement on her previous fastest time, but she finished with a new benchmark in her first season running cross country with the Ventures.
The course’s elevation changes were a defining feature of the meet. Against that backdrop, Jeakle’s 26:53.7 supplied the clearest measure of individual progress for the Ventures. Her personal best came on a day when just two girls in the race achieved that distinction.
Sullivan, also in her first cross country season with the Ventures, completed the same hilly course in 29:46.1. Her finish gave the team another recorded performance at Kensington Metropark and added a race result to her debut season.
For the two first-season runners, the meet paired a difficult course with concrete results to carry forward. Jeakle finished 2 minutes, 52.4 seconds ahead of Sullivan, with times of 26:53.7 and 29:46.1, respectively.
