Mystics fall to Dickinson State after fourth-inning swing

GAME ONE
DICKINSON, N.D. - Bismarck State carried an early lead into the middle innings, but Dickinson State turned the game with a three-run fourth and went on to hand the Mystics a 9-5 loss Monday in Dickinson, North Dakota.
The decisive stretch came after Bismarck State went up 3-1 in the top of the fourth. Leah Rolland singled to center to bring home Grace Grimm and extend the Mystics' advantage, but Dickinson State answered immediately in the bottom half. Celina Wilharm delivered a two-run double to tie the game, and Brooke Lijewski followed later with a solo home run that put Dickinson State in front for good at 4-3.
The Mystics had pressure on the defense early. Brielle Wrangham opened the scoring in the first with a single to left that plated Savannah Gustavsson. In the second, Tayler Falcon added another RBI single after McKenzie Yantzer had moved into scoring position by stealing second, giving Bismarck State a 2-0 edge. The Mystics also scored in the fourth and sixth innings and finished with 11 hits, but Dickinson State's offense kept answering.
Rolland led Bismarck State's top individual performances, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a hit by pitch. Lexi Wesson supplied the final run with a solo home run in the seventh. Wrangham and Falcon each drove in a run as the Mystics spread production throughout the lineup. Bismarck State also stole two bases and committed one error.
Dickinson State finished with 16 hits and no errors, with Lijewski doing the most damage. She went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. Wilharm added three hits and two RBIs, and Ashlee Potter chipped in three hits and an RBI. After adding a run in the fifth, Dickinson State broke the game open in the sixth with four more runs, highlighted by Lijewski's two-run double and extra-base hits from Octavia Meyer and Jaydin Sabol.
Bismarck State trimmed the margin one last time when Wesson connected for a solo shot in the seventh, but the Mystics could not string together another rally. The loss came after Bismarck State scored in five different innings, only to see Dickinson State's middle-inning surge decide the opener.
