Mystics place two All-Americans at NAIA Women’s Wrestling Championship

PARK CITY, Kan. -- Bismarck State College’s women’s wrestling team closed its season Friday at the NAIA Women’s Wrestling Championship with two All-American finishes, as Rei Ogden and Alexis Schneider turned in milestone performances for the Mystics in Park City, Kansas.

The tournament result marked another significant step for Bismarck State College’s inaugural women’s wrestling season. Ogden finished fourth at 124 pounds, while Schneider placed seventh at 131 pounds, giving the Mystics their first two All-Americans in program history. Lakota Rogers also qualified for the national tournament at 117 pounds, adding to a postseason group that helped define the team’s first season on the national stage.

Ogden put together one of the strongest runs of the tournament in her bracket. After a bye, she dropped her first match by fall in 0:57, then responded with four straight victories. She earned a 14-9 decision in her second contested bout, followed with a pin at 2:03 in her third match, then produced one of the day’s biggest turnarounds with a fall at 4:28 in her fourth match after trailing 12-11 at the time of the pin. Ogden added an 8-3 decision in her fifth match before being pinned 17 seconds into the third-place bout, securing a fourth-place national finish and All-American honors.

Schneider also delivered a steady tournament at 131 pounds, going 4-2 and clinching All-American status in her final match. She opened with a 9-0 decision and followed with a 9-2 decision before falling by technical fall at 1:27 in her third match. Schneider answered with a fall at 4:15 in her fourth bout, then lost a tight 9-6 decision in her fifth match. In the placement round, she finished strong with a technical fall at 4:56 to claim seventh place and become the second Mystic to earn All-American recognition.

Rogers, competing at 117 pounds, dropped both of her matches by fall and was eliminated from the bracket. Even so, her national qualification gave Bismarck State College three representatives at the championship, an important benchmark for a first-year program still building its foundation and national presence.

For the Mystics, the weekend served as both a breakthrough and a measure of how quickly the program has advanced. With Ogden and Schneider becoming the first All-Americans in school history and three wrestlers reaching the national tournament, Bismarck State College wrapped up its inaugural season with tangible results and a strong base for what comes next.
