Calvary Christian Academy Tops Tradition Prep 3-1 Behind Strong Serving
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Calvary Christian Academy defeated Tradition Prep 3-1 in an away nonconference match Wednesday, winning three of four sets to improve to 8-3. The Panthers combined an effective attack with sustained pressure from the service line, finishing with 31 kills and 21 aces against the Pirates.
H. Register led the Calvary Christian Academy attack with 12 kills, an average of three per set. H. Register also delivered seven aces and made four digs, contributing in each phase of the four-set victory. The Panthers averaged 7.8 kills and 5.3 aces per set.
M. Espinal directed the offense with 27 of the Panthers' 29 assists. M. Espinal added three kills and four aces, helping Calvary Christian Academy maintain balance around its leading hitter. The Panthers converted that distribution into contributions from several players, with four finishing with at least four kills.
Calvary Christian Academy also made an impact at the net. B. Hunter recorded six kills, three blocks and two aces, while J. Apostolico added four kills and one block. Together, they accounted for all four of the Panthers' blocks. Z. Juan and A. Rodriguez supplied three kills apiece, and A. Rodriguez was perfect on six service attempts.
The Panthers' serving depth extended throughout the lineup. E. Muscarella recorded five aces while anchoring the back-row defense with a team-high 11 digs and adding two assists. A. Crutcher served three aces as Calvary Christian Academy finished with an 88.8% serving rate across 80 attempts. The Panthers committed nine service errors but repeatedly generated points with their aggressive approach.
Calvary Christian Academy finished the match with 18 digs and limited Tradition Prep to one set victory, dropping the Pirates to 0-4.
