Central Lake/Ellsworth Trojans Football 2025 Season Update

Ryan Cunningham | Central Lake | Sep 23, 2025

The Central Lake/Ellsworth Trojans have kicked off their 2025 football season under the guidance of Head Coach Chase Hibbard. After a challenging 2024 season with a record of 2-7, the Trojans are showing promising signs of resurgence with a majority of the players from last year's junior class returning as experienced seniors. The season began with a thrilling home victory against Marion on August 28, where the Trojans secured a 44-38 win. However, the following weeks saw challenging games with a 20-34 loss against Gaylord St Mary and a tough defeat to Indian River Inland Lakes at 0-50, both in September. The Trojans bounced back impressively on September 19 with a dominant 50-0 victory over Pellston, demonstrating their defensive and offensive capabilities. Looking ahead, the Trojans have important fixtures lined up at Herrick Athletic Complex, including the Homecoming game against Bellaire on September 26. Key matches also include encounters with Onekama and Onaway in early October. The Trojans aim to maintain their momentum through these crucial games, leveraging the strengths of key returning players, including Grant Miller, Billy Hopp, Riley Shafer, Josiah Chellis, Talon Montgomery, and quarterback Brady Roggenbeck. As the season progresses, the Trojans hope to strengthen their standings and continue building on their current performances, all while hosting significant events such as Veterans' Appreciation Night and Homecoming. The community and school support remains strong for the Trojans as they strive to exceed the achievements from their previous seasons.
