Blue Notes Perform National Anthem at Linn County 9/11 Memorial Service
Central Linn Senior High School’s Blue Notes helped commemorate the lives lost and sacrifices made on Sept. 11, 2001, by performing the national anthem during a memorial service Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at the Linn County Courthouse in Albany.
The coed choir’s performance provided a musical focal point for the service, bringing the singers together for an appearance centered on remembrance rather than competition. Without scores or placements at stake, the Blue Notes represented Central Linn through a collective performance before community members and emergency responders.
People from surrounding communities attended the courthouse gathering, joining firefighters from Albany, Jefferson, Scio and Sweet Home. Their presence reflected the service’s emphasis on honoring first responders, public servants and others affected by the terrorist attacks 25 years earlier.
The national anthem placed the Blue Notes at the center of one of the memorial’s notable moments. The full choir performed as a group, with the occasion highlighting ensemble unity and shared purpose rather than individual solos or awards. No individual performers were identified, making the appearance a team achievement for the Central Linn program.
Clear conditions accompanied the memorial, with the temperature listed at 51 degrees and light winds in Albany. Against that quiet setting, the Blue Notes’ courthouse performance added Central Linn’s voices to a regional observance that brought students, residents and fire departments together to remember Sept. 11.
