Arcs Cruise Past John Hay 57-37 Behind Strong Defensive Effort

The Brush Arcs boys basketball team defeated the John Hay Hornets 57-37 on Friday night thanks to a strong defensive effort, effectively holding the Hornets to minimal scoring throughout the game. From the outset, the Arcs dominated defensively, limiting the Hornets to just four points in the first quarter and maintaining a substantial lead by halftime with a score of 22-12. Key players for Brush included Reggie Smith, Jr., who not only scored 12 points but also secured 12 rebounds, contributing significantly on both ends of the court. In addition, Prince Ryleigh-Johnson added 11 points to the scoreboard, while Khalil Dudley, in his season debut, and Javion Sanderson each contributed 9 points. Dudley, along with his scoring, provided four assists, leading the team in creating scoring opportunities. Jay Gilchrist stood out in defense, collecting four steals during the game. The team's robust defense held the Hornets to a mere 29% shooting and drastically outscored them 34-16 in the paint. Looking ahead, the Arcs are set to host Akron Buchtel on Tuesday, December 23 for a tripleheader at 12, 1:30 and 3pm.
