Arcs Face Setback in Season Opener at Cleveland Heights

The Brush High School boys' basketball team opened its season at the Great Lakes Classic on Friday, suffering a tough loss against the home team Cleveland Heights Tigers with a final score of 70-38. The Tigers set a strong pace early in the game, leading 22-8 by the end of the first quarter, primarily due to their impressive performance from the three-point line. Cleveland Heights managed to hit 12 three-pointers throughout the game compared to just one by Brush. The halftime score further highlighted the challenge faced by the Arcs, with Cleveland Heights leading 39-16. Top scorers for Brush were Reggie Smith, Jr., who scored 11 points, making him the only Arc to reach double figures, and Braylon Davis, who contributed seven points. On the rebounding front, Davis along with Prince Ryleigh-Johnson each grabbed 8 rebounds. However, turnovers were a significant issue for Brush, as they turned the ball over 20 times leading to 20 points for the Tigers. Despite the Arcs' efforts to mount a comeback in the second half, the significant lead established by the Tigers in the first half proved too much to overcome.
