Arcs Overcome Slow Start to Dominate Warrensville Heights, 35-6
The Brush Arcs football team defeated the Warrensville Heights Tigers by the final score of 35-6 on Friday night at Warrensville Heights. The Arcs rolled off 35 unanswered points after trailing 6-0 early on. The game began with the Tigers scoring on their opening drive, putting early pressure on the Arcs. However, the momentum soon shifted. Quarterback Jay Gilchrist ignited the comeback with a 15-yard scramble for a touchdown, just 26 seconds before the half-time, altering the halftime score to 7-6 in favor of Brush. Gilchrist's dynamic play would be a recurring theme throughout the game. The second half saw the Arcs dominating both offensively and defensively. Brush scored a remarkable 28 points in the third quarter alone, effectively shutting down the Tiger offense. Gilchrist connected with Bryce Rucker for two touchdown passes of 15 and 17 yards, while also adding another touchdown from a 13-yard run. Adding to the spectacle, Antonio Lee returned an interception for 28 yards on the final play of the third quarter, solidifying the lead at 35-6. With this victory, Brush snapped a three-game losing streak, improving their season record to 3-4. The Arcs are set to host Shaw on October 10, as they look to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.
