The Charles F. Brush girls wrestling team delivered another strong tournament performance, placing fifth out of 25 teams at the Lady Viking Invitational on Sunday at Akron North High School.

The Lady Arcs were led by finalists Brooklyn Baskin at 155 pounds and Amari Johnson at 170. Both advanced to their respective championship bouts, with Baskin finishing the day 4-1 and Johnson going 3-1. Each wrestler’s lone loss came in the title match against the eventual tournament champion at her weight.

Baskin’s run at 155 pounds anchored Brush in the upper-middle weights, as she navigated a busy bracket to reach the finals. Her 4-1 mark reflected consistent production throughout the day, adding valuable team points and setting a tone for the Lady Arcs’ performance in the middle of the lineup. At 170 pounds, Johnson provided a similar boost, pushing through her side of the bracket and securing three wins on her way to the championship bout.

Brush also received significant contributions from several other wrestlers who reached the podium. At 110 pounds, Lyneyya Anthory placed fourth, giving the team key early weight-class points. In the same 155-pound division where Baskin reached the finals, Olivia Fox added a fourth-place finish, helping solidify that weight as one of the Lady Arcs’ strongest on the day.

In the upper weights, Elianna Steele claimed fourth at 190 pounds, extending Brush’s presence deep into another bracket and reinforcing the team’s balance across multiple classes. Leah James rounded out the scoring for the Lady Arcs with a fifth-place finish at 120 pounds, ensuring Brush picked up placement points across the lower and middle weights.

With multiple wrestlers advancing deep into their brackets and five total podium finishes, the Lady Arcs demonstrated depth and competitiveness against a large tournament field. The fifth-place team finish at the Lady Viking Invitational continues to build momentum for Brush as the season progresses and the schedule moves toward postseason competition.
