Turnovers Doom Arcs in 68-45 Loss at Shaker
Sunday night the Brush boys basketball team took on the Red Raiders of Shaker in the Danny Young Classic, ending with a loss of 45-68. The game started competitively with Shaker leading by just two points at 13-11 after the first quarter. However, the Red Raiders widened their lead significantly in the second quarter, outscoring the Arcs 17-5, setting a challenging pace Brush could not match. By halftime, Shaker was leading 30-16. The second half of the game did not see a reversal of fortunes for the Brush Arcs as they continued to trail significantly behind the Red Raiders. The turnovers became a major issue for Brush, conceding 22 turnovers which Shaker transformed into 26 crucial points. Additionally, Shaker's control on the offensive rebounds was notable, securing 17 throughout the game. The efforts of Javion Sanderson and Prince Ryleigh-Johnson, each scoring 13 points, were bright spots in an otherwise tough game for the Arcs, but the team could not close the wide gap established earlier. Looking ahead, the Arcs are set to host Richmond Heights at home this Friday at 7:30pm.
