Cleveland Heights earned contributions throughout the lineup Tuesday, defeating North Olmsted 4-1 in a girls tennis match at 27301 Butternut Ridge Rd, North Olmsted, OH 44070. Senior Virginia secured the deciding point with a 7-6, 6-0 victory, completing a strong team performance in partly cloudy, 80-degree conditions.
The second doubles team of Cordy Bender and Ginger McClellan gave Cleveland Heights an early lift. The pair won the opening set 6-3 before taking complete control in the second, closing out a 6-0 set to finish the first victory of the match. Their straight-set result established momentum for a lineup that collected two singles wins and two doubles wins.
Quinn Lilly-Bidinger delivered the afternoon’s comeback. After dropping the first set 6-2, she responded by sweeping the second set 6-0 to force a match-deciding super tiebreaker. Quinn Lilly-Bidinger carried that turnaround into the final stage, winning the super tiebreaker 10-2 and adding another point for Cleveland Heights.
