Drury University Men's Lacrosse Makes Historic Conference Tournament Qualification
SPRINGFIELD, MO — In a landmark season for Drury University, the men's lacrosse team, under the leadership of Head Coach Dustin Rich, has made significant strides by clinching their first-ever spot in the Lone Star Alliance conference tournament. The Panthers have not only exceeded expectations but have also set new records for the program, enhancing their competitive edge in collegiate lacrosse.
This season marks Coach Rich's third year at the helm, with a tenure that has seen a steady improvement in the team's performance. Despite a challenging 4-9 record last season, the Panthers have turned their fortunes around remarkably. They have secured a program-record five victories and achieved a winning record, surpassing .500 for the first time in the team's history. This turnaround has been bolstered by the leadership and skill of returning key players Nathan Reichardt, Brendan Moehle, Colin Mizia, and Andrew Philbin.
Speaking on the team's success, Coach Rich expressed his enthusiasm and pride. "I'm really proud of our guys for constantly working and improving this season. Qualifying for the post-season is one of our big goals, and proof that we're moving in the right direction as a program," said Rich. His vision for the team has evidently taken shape, leading the Panthers to new heights.
The memorable season has not only been about surpassing previous records but also about constructing a solid foundation for future growth and success. With the core squad intact and no key players lost to graduation this year, Drury University's men's lacrosse team is poised to continue its upward trajectory in the competitive landscape of collegiate lacrosse. The future looks promising for the Panthers as they prepare to compete in Harrison Stadium, Springfield MO, with their sights set on further achievements.
