Eaton Turns in Solid State Meet Effort at OHSAA Div III Championships

Eaton High School closed its season with a strong showing Friday June 4th and Saturday June 5th at the OHSAA Div III State Meet in Columbus, led by a productive day in the girls discus and a state appearance in the boys pole vault. Competing against a large field on a warm, clear afternoon, the Fighting Eagles put together several notable finishes at the State Meet.

The girls discus group provided the deepest results for Eaton. Katie Betzner led the way with a seventh-place finish, giving the Fighting Eagles a top-10 result on the state stage. Eaton also saw Julianne Deaton place 16th in the event. The Girls Shot Put saw an 11th place finish for Julianne and a 17th place finish for Katie. The discus and shot put competitions gave Eaton multiple athletes competing deep into one of the meet’s most demanding field events.

On the boys side, Joel Appledorn represented Eaton in the pole vault and finished 11th. Reaching the state meet is an accomplishment on its own, and Appledorn’s finish added another steady performance for the Fighting Eagles against high-level competition.

The meet brought together top Division III athletes from across Ohio, and Eaton’s group answered with composure and consistency. The Fighting Eagles showed balance between the throwing events and the pole vault, and the state meet experience provided another strong benchmark for the program.

With a top-seven finish in girls discus and multiple athletes competing on one of the biggest stages of the season, Eaton left Columbus with plenty to celebrate. The Fighting Eagles’ presence across those events reflected the work that carried the program to the final meet of the year.
