Gahanna Lincoln High School Girls Bowling Team captured its second straight district championship with a strong performance at the District Tournament on Feb. 24 in Columbus, rolling a 3,674 total to out distanced field and continue one of the region’s most consistent bowling runs.
The Lady Lions set the tone early in team play, opening with an 892 in game one to move immediately into second place. While game two brought some adversity with a 784 that slipped them to third, they remained within striking distance. The lineup responded in game three, posting a 928 — the team’s best traditional game of the day — to surge into the lead heading into the Baker portion of the event.
Once in front, the Lions did not relinquish control. Gahanna Lincoln backed up its strong individual games with the best Baker block of the tournament, totaling 1,070 over six Baker games to close out the championship. That Baker surge provided the separation needed in the standings and solidified the Lions at the top of the district field.
The district title marks back-to-back championships for Gahanna Lincoln and the program’s sixth district crown in the last nine years, underscoring the Lions’ sustained success. The combination of steady scoring, a bounce-back third game and a dominant Baker block reflected the team’s experience in high-stakes postseason competition.
Individually, several Lions turned in standout efforts. Jessica Goldman led the way for Gahanna Lincoln, finishing seventh overall with a 596 series. She was joined in the top 10 by Kennedy Carruthers, who placed ninth with a 564. Both bowlers helped anchor the traditional games and keep the Lions near the top of the leaderboard throughout qualifying.
Depth also played a key role in the championship run. Lacey Holden added a 526 series to finish 18th individually, and Mikayla Hull came off the bench with two strong games of 163 and 160 giving the Lions even more reliable scores in the lineup.
With another district championship secured and a strong blend of top-tier performers and supporting depth, the Lions advance from the district tournament with momentum and a clear track record of postseason success as they look ahead to the State Tournament on Saturday March 7th.
