Gahanna Lincoln boys bowlers set new baker game record, finish first in qualifying at Wildcat Baker Brawl

Gahanna Lincoln’s boys bowling team turned in a milestone performance at the Wildcat Baker Brawl on Saturday at HP Lanes, finishing first in qualifying and shattering the school’s baker game record on the way to a strong bracket run against some of the toughest programs in the state.

The Lions set the tone early by rolling a massive 3,309 in qualifying to claim the top seed in a field packed with quality competition. That effort advanced Gahanna Lincoln into bracket play, where the Lions opened against Hilliard Darby in a best-of-three baker series. After dropping the first game with a 135, the Lions responded with poise and power, posting back-to-back games of 205 and 196 to take the series 2-1 and move into the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Gahanna Lincoln matched up with perennial powerhouse Coldwater in another best-of-three baker showdown. The Lions battled through the set and pushed the Cavaliers, ultimately falling 2-1 in a tight series. Despite the exit in the semifinal round, the overall body of work underscored the Lions’ consistency and resilience throughout a demanding day on the lanes.

The performance was highlighted by a historic moment in the very first baker game of the event. Just three weeks after breaking the previous school baker game record of 279 with a 289, the Lions raised the bar again by firing an incredible 299. The near-perfect effort not only reset the program standard but also sent a clear message that Gahanna Lincoln has emerged as one of the premier baker teams in the region.

Over the course of the event, the Lions completed 22 baker games and finished with a total pinfall of 4,395, averaging an impressive 199.77 per game. Even on a day the team considered short of its absolute best, that level of scoring against elite opposition speaks to the depth, preparation and mental toughness throughout the lineup.
