Gahanna Lincoln boys bowling delivered a championship performance at the COHSBC Championship on Monday in Columbus, qualifying first and then rolling through match play to bring home the title.

The Lions set the tone early in qualifying, putting together two strong regular team games for a 2,053 total. Gahanna Lincoln opened with a powerful 1,110 in the first game, then followed with a 943 in the second, averaging an impressive 205.4 pins per game as a team. That consistency across the lineup established the Lions as the team to beat and ultimately positioned them at the top of the standings heading into baker play.

Baker games brought a quick test of resilience. The Lions stumbled out of the gate with a 138 in the first baker, but they responded exactly like a championship group, regrouping to post a 201 in the next game. That bounce-back performance was enough to lock up the No. 1 qualifying spot and send Gahanna Lincoln into match play with momentum and confidence.

In the semifinals, Gahanna Lincoln was paired with Marysville and showed the composure of a veteran team in a best-of-three baker series. The Lions opened with a strong 213 to take control, then remained steady with a 195 and 196 across the next two games, winning the match 2-1. Every frame mattered, and the players continued to support one another, turning key marks and fills into the difference in a tight series.

These young men never give up! The pulled themselves together after qualifying and bounced back to become not only the Division A champs, but also the over all COHSBC champs and we are extremely proud of them. On to Sectionals Gents!

That victory set up a championship showdown with Teays Valley, and the Lions wasted no time asserting themselves. Gahanna Lincoln shut out Teays Valley 2-0 in the final, stringing together games of 197 and 202 to close out the title. The Lions’ clean frames, timely strikes, and calm under pressure turned the final into a statement finish and capped off a day where the team’s depth and chemistry clearly stood out.

Individually, Mitchell Genson provided one of the day’s highlights, earning all-tournament team honors with a stellar two-game series of 482, rolling games of 236 and 246. His performance anchored the Lions’ early surge and set a standard of excellence that the rest of the lineup followed. While Genson’s numbers stood out on the stat sheet, coaches emphasized how much the group succeeded by staying connected, picking each other up after tough frames, and celebrating big moments together.

From start to finish, the COHSBC Championship showcased what makes Gahanna Lincoln a contender: high scoring potential, resilience after adversity, and a strong sense of team pride. With a first-place qualifying performance, a gritty semifinal win, and a commanding sweep in the finals, the Lions turned a long day on the lanes into a championship memory that reflects the hard work they have put in all season.
