Gahanna Lincoln’s boys bowling team delivered when it mattered most, storming through Baker play to capture the District Championship on Tuesday at HP Lanes in Columbus. The Lions piled up a 4,161 total pinfall to secure their second consecutive district title, using a powerful opening block and clutch Baker games to outpace the field and punch their ticket back to the state stage.

The Lions came out firing in team games, setting the tone with a 995 in Game 1 to grab the early lead after the opening round. They backed it up with a 994 in Game 2, showing consistency across the lineup and clinging to first place by a slim margin. Through two games, Gahanna Lincoln had established itself as the team to catch, and the Lions’ energy matched the high stakes of a district final.

Game 3 brought the first real adversity of the day. While Gahanna Lincoln turned in a 949, Hilliard Darby surged with a 1,060, flipping the standings and dropping the Lions into second after the three traditional games. Instead of folding, the group embraced the challenge. Knowing the title would likely be decided in Baker play, the Lions regrouped, refocused, and prepared to make their move when the frames turned to five-player rotations.

Coach Yvonne & Coach Ernest
Another great day to be a Lion! These young men just continue to amaze us with their fortitude, resilience and grit. Today was not easy, but we are so proud of how they fought to come back after a not so good 3rd regular game. This was truly a team effort.

That response in Bakers defined the championship. Gahanna Lincoln came out “swinging,” as coaches described it, opening the Baker set with a 245—its high Baker game of the day and a clear statement to the rest of the field. From there, the Lions maintained steady pressure, never dipping below 175 in any Baker game. That combination of a high ceiling and a strong floor proved decisive, allowing the Lions to erase the deficit and pull away for the tournament win.

Individually, several Lions turned in standout performances that powered the district title run. Kris Briscoe led the way with a 634 three-game series, anchoring the lineup with dependable shot-making and poise. Right behind him, Mitchell Genson rolled a 631 series, giving Gahanna Lincoln a formidable one-two punch at the top of the order. Will Gray provided a big spark with a high game of 213, while Kael Clous added another key contribution with a 201 high game, rounding out a balanced attack that kept the Lions near the top of the standings all day.

Together, those performances added up to the 4,161 total that crowned Gahanna Lincoln as back-to-back district champions. Beyond the numbers, the win showcased the team’s resilience—responding to being passed in Game 3 with its best bowling in Bakers—and the depth that makes the Lions such a dangerous postseason squad. As they move on from districts, Gahanna Lincoln carries not only a trophy, but also the confidence of a team that knows how to answer pressure with its best bowling when the lanes matter most.
