Gahanna Lincoln’s girls bowling team turned in a strong sectional performance Saturday at HP Lanes, rolling a 3,618 total to sit comfortably near the top of the standings behind a balanced lineup and a tournament-best series from senior anchor Lacey Holden.

The Lions established themselves early in the three regulation games, opening with an 820 set that immediately placed them in second. They followed that with an even stronger 879 in Game 2, a surge that moved Gahanna Lincoln into first place in the team standings. Once in front, the Lions maintained their pace and composure, closing the regulation block with a 902 that cemented their position heading into Baker play.

Holden led all girls in the field with a 647 series, providing the anchor performance Gahanna Lincoln needed to separate from the rest of the pack. Her consistency across all three games set the tone for the Lions’ climb from second to first and helped stabilize the lineup as scoring conditions transitioned through the block. With Holden pacing the field, Gahanna Lincoln was able to build and then protect its lead through the remainder of the regular games.

Gahanna Lincoln’s depth behind Holden proved just as important. Jessica Goldman finished 22nd overall with a 507 series, while Rachel Goldman was close behind in 23rd at 504. Freshman Kennedy Carruthers added a key 498, good for 26th place individually. The Lions’ ability to place four bowlers within the top tier of the standings gave the team a substantial scoring base, limiting the impact of any single frame and keeping the lineup steady across all three games.

The Lions carried that momentum into Baker play, where they turned in a 1,017 total over six Baker games, the second-best Baker block of the day. While another team edged them for the top Baker series, Gahanna Lincoln’s consistency in the rotation preserved the advantage built during the regular games. Clean frames from multiple spots in the lineup and timely strikes in the middle games of the Baker set allowed the Lions to withstand any late pushes from challengers.

By the end of the sectional tournament, Gahanna Lincoln had combined a leading individual effort with solid support and strong Baker performance to produce one of the day’s most complete team showings. With a 3,618 total, a tournament-leading 647 series from Holden and four bowlers inside the top 26, the Lions positioned themselves well for the upcoming postseason rounds and demonstrated a formula built on depth, poise and sustained scoring.
