Gahanna Lincoln High School Lions Win 2025 OHSAA Girls Cross Country State Championship
In an impressive display of athleticism and teamwork, the Gahanna Lincoln High School Lions clinched the first state championship in their Girls Cross Country program history. The Lions soared to victory at the 2025 OHSAA Girls Cross Country State Championship held on November 1, at Fortress Obetz in Obetz, Ohio.
The Lions faced formidable competition from schools across the state including Hilliard Davidson High School, Avon High School, Olentangy Liberty High School, and others. Despite the tough field, Gahanna Lincoln won the meet convincingly with 81 points, 55 points ahead of the runner-up, Hilliard Davidson High School.
Key performances were seen across the board with several Lions securing top spots. Ruby Lewis finished 6th with a time of 18:06.65, followed by Abigail Young at 11th with 18:21.49, and Jillian Gomez at 23rd with 18:43.95. These stellar finishes contributed significantly to the Lions' overall score and highlighted the depth of talent within the team.
This remarkable achievement marks a milestone for the Lions, as this victory at the state level is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the athletes and coaching staff throughout the season. They now look forward to their next challenge at the Nike Cross Regional Cross Country Championship scheduled for November 16, 2025, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.
