Gahanna Lincoln JV Lions Capture 1st Annual Ohio JV State Tournament Title With Strong Baker Play

Gahanna Lincoln High School’s junior varsity bowlers turned steady progress into a championship run Saturday, rolling to the Ohio Junior Varsity State Tournament title with a 2,558 total pinfall and a series of clutch Baker games at HP Lanes on Innis Road in Columbus.
The Lions’ day was defined by resilience and teamwork. After the first traditional team game, Gahanna Lincoln sat in 10th place in a crowded field. Instead of tightening up, the group responded in a big way during the second team game, surging up the standings to 5th. The Lions then showed their consistency by moving up one more spot to 4th-place position through five Baker games, securing a spot in bracket play and setting the stage for a memorable postseason push.
Bracket play opened with a total-pin, two-game Baker format, and Gahanna Lincoln wasted no time asserting control. In the first round, the Lions matched up with West Clermont and delivered a convincing 426–318 victory over the two-game set, using clean frames and timely marks to build a comfortable margin. That win advanced the Lions to the next round, where they faced Centerville and again rose to the moment, taking a 374–314 decision. Back-to-back double-digit wins put Gahanna Lincoln into the championship match with plenty of momentum.
The finals against Versailles shifted to a best-of-three Baker format, demanding both execution and composure frame by frame. Gahanna Lincoln set the tone with a strong 202 in Game 1, outpacing Versailles’ 174 to grab the early series lead. Versailles answered in Game 2, edging the Lions 197–173 to even the match and forcing a decisive third game. In that winner-take-all Baker, Gahanna Lincoln responded with poise, rolling a 180 to Versailles’ 157 to clinch the Baker set and secure the tournament championship.
While no single high game stood alone as the story of the day, the Lions’ performance was the definition of a collective effort. Every bowler contributed at different moments—stringing strikes, converting key spares, and keeping fills strong in the 10th frames. That shared responsibility powered the Lions through qualifying and into a dominant bracket run, where they outscored opponents West Clermont 426–318, Centerville 374–314, and then defeating Versailles 202–173–180 to 174–197–157 in the title showdown.
For Gahanna Lincoln, the 1st Annual Ohio JV State Tournament became a showcase of depth, growth, and composure under pressure. Climbing from 10th place to 4th in qualifying demonstrated the team’s ability to adjust and improve, and their Baker performance in bracket play highlighted their chemistry and trust in one another. The championship not only caps an outstanding tournament run but also builds confidence and pride for the Lions program moving forward, as these junior varsity bowlers continue to develop into the next wave of leaders on the lanes.
