Harvest Community School launched the 2026 football season with an emphatic 61-6 victory over First Coast Christian on Friday night, seizing control when sophomore First Coast returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The decisive first-play score energized a tremendous crowd at Cornerstone Classical Academy and began an eight-touchdown performance by the Warriors.

The return game remained electric throughout the opener. Izayah Thomas rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns while adding a 65-yard kickoff return for a third score. Sophomore Diaje Betts produced 152 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns, including two touchdown receptions and a 79-yard kickoff return. Harvest finished with 144 kickoff return yards on two returns, with Izayah Thomas and Diaje Betts reaching the end zone on kickoffs.

The night also marked an inspiring comeback at quarterback. Junior Drew Hill made his second career start 729 days after suffering an injury during his freshman season. Drew Hill completed 10 of 16 passes for 107 yards and three touchdowns, then added a rushing score. The performance rewarded a long rehabilitation process and gave teammates and supporters a memorable moment to celebrate.

Several Warriors contributed to the scoring surge. Senior Xavier Crook caught two passes for 20 yards and a touchdown and added a two-point conversion run. Senior Foster Powers contributed 26 total yards and scored on a conversion, while senior Ethan Wood converted two additional two-point attempts. Harvest totaled 213 yards while repeatedly turning strong field position and explosive plays into points.

Harvest's defense delivered an equally impressive statement. Led by seniors Ethan Wood, Foster Powers, Ben Gammage and Jon Drost, along with sophomore Chahvi Glenn and junior Josiah Salmon, the Warriors held the Knights to 4 total yards. First Coast Christian finished with minus-46 rushing yards and 50 passing yards, scoring only once against a defense that controlled the line of scrimmage from the opening whistle.
