Sheriff Reggie Marinelli Brings Jefferson County Together for Conifer Lobos Football Game
On Friday, Sept. 11, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will come together with Conifer High School and US United for a special experience during the Conifer Lobos’ football game against Glenwood Springs. The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. followed by kickoff at 6 p.m. at Conifer High School, 10441 County Hwy 73, Conifer, CO.
The gathering will include representatives of Conifer High School, local first responders, military veterans and community members whose experiences and viewpoints may differ. Instead of allowing those differences to create distance, participants will sit together, support local student-athletes and experience the game as neighbors.
Unity Seats is a national initiative that brings people from different backgrounds and perspectives together through sports. Its message is simple and important: People do not have to agree on everything to treat each other with respect, find common ground and strengthen their community. The energy surrounding a high school football game offers a welcoming setting for conversations and connections that might not otherwise happen.
For the sheriff’s office, participation reflects the understanding that public safety depends on strong relationships and mutual trust. This event gives deputies and residents a chance to connect outside of calls for service, learn more about one another and share an evening centered on community pride. the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will take part in that effort alongside the students, families, first responders, veterans and neighbors gathered for the game.
This year’s event carries added significance because it falls on the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The evening will remember the 2,977 people who were killed, honor the first responders and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage, and reflect on the unity Americans demonstrated in the days that followed. That spirit of standing together in the face of tragedy will give deeper purpose to every shared seat and conversation on Friday night.
