The Lyndhurst Police Department and Lyndhurst Police Foundation, in collaboration with the local community, recently hosted a successful 'Fill-A-Cruiser' event on December 14, 2024. The charitable event, which took place at Giant Eagle Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, Ohio, aimed to collect food donations for a local food pantry, attracting the involvement of both community leaders and citizens. Organized by the Lyndhurst Police Department and masterminded by Lt. Mike Scipione of the Lyndhurst Police Foundation, the event was an initiative to give back to the community during the holidays. The efforts to fill a police cruiser with food donations were met with enthusiastic participation, which was prominently featured in a day of giving and solidarity. The significance of such community engagement was echoed by prominent figures such as Chet Mason, head boys basketball coach at Brush High School. He remarked, "A person's success is not measured by wins or loses, it is determined by how many others we help along the way. That's what I try to instill in our young men." Additionally, donor Amanda Banchek expressed, "she likes to see the teens out in the community volunteering and wishes more teens would be involved." Their words underscore the broader impact of community involvement beyond immediate charitable acts. The event was captured in a memorable photo featuring Lyndhurst Mayor Patrick Ward and several members of the Lyndhurst Police Department, along with Coach Chet Mason and several of his varsity basketball team members, all sharing the spotlight in this commendable community drive.
