Peru State sweeps Waldorf in La Vista doubleheader

Peru State opened its Thursday twinbill with a steady, complete effort, then followed it with an offensive eruption, sweeping Waldorf 6-1 and 12-4 in a doubleheader in La Vista, Nebraska.
The decisive push in Game 1 came in stages, and the Bobcats never let Waldorf back into control. Peru State scored twice in the second inning when Casidy Sipek started the rally with a single, Eva Schultz brought home a run with an RBI single, and Jaylin Harsh added an RBI double. The Bobcats added two more in the fourth, with Harsh driving in a run and Kylee Dieckmann delivering an RBI single, then capped the scoring with two in the sixth. One of the sharpest moments of the opener came in that sixth inning, when Sage Serdinsky doubled to begin the frame and later scored during an aggressive sequence that included Dieckmann's single and a steal of home that stretched the lead to 6-1.
Serdinsky set the tone all game, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Jami Mans added two hits and an RBI. Peru State finished with 12 hits, stole six bases and played error-free defense behind a strong pitching performance. Makenna Scribner worked five innings and allowed just four hits and one earned run while striking out three. Waldorf's only run came on Hailey Michalik's solo home run in the fourth, but the Bobcats kept the pressure on and limited any larger response.
Game 2 required a quick answer after Waldorf jumped ahead 3-0 in the second inning, capped by Ryann Eurich's two-run double. Peru State answered immediately and decisively in the third. After getting on the board in the second, the Bobcats turned the game with a four-run third inning, highlighted by Gracey Meinert's three-run home run that flipped the score to 4-3. That swing changed the feel of the game and gave Peru State the lead for good.
The Bobcats kept building from there, adding a run in the fourth before breaking the game open with a six-run fifth. Peru State again totaled 12 hits and needed only five innings to secure the 12-4 win. Jami Mans drove in four runs on two hits, Meinert finished with a homer, two hits and three RBIs, and Kylee Dieckmann collected three hits, scored twice and stole a base. Waldorf finished with six hits and added one run in the fifth, but Peru State's lineup kept producing quality at-bats and timely contact throughout the night.
Taken together, the two games showed the full range of Peru State's strengths, clean defense and controlled pitching in the opener, then comeback power and lineup depth in the nightcap. The Bobcats outscored Waldorf 18-5 across the doubleheader, and the biggest late statement came in that six-run fifth inning of Game 2, when Peru State turned a competitive game into a runaway and finished off an emphatic sweep.
