Indianettes Place Second at Shiner as Caroline L. Wins 1A-2A Race
SHINER, Texas - Sacred Heart Catholic School used an individual victory and strong pack depth to earn two top-three team finishes Thursday at the Shiner Cross Country Meet. The Indianettes varsity girls placed second in the 1A-2A division, led by Caroline L.'s first-place finish, while the junior high girls took third.
The races began under partly cloudy skies with the temperature at 81 degrees at Green-Dickson Park. Sacred Heart's varsity lineup paired a winning performance at the front with four runners among the top 14 and six in the top 27. That balance helped the Indianettes tackle the Shiner field and secure the runner-up team result.
Behind Caroline L., Catherine L. gave the Indianettes a second top-10 finisher by placing sixth. Emi P. crossed in 11th, and Kallie L. followed in 14th to complete a strong group near the front. Emma K. placed 24th, while Lily J. finished 27th, giving Sacred Heart additional depth across the varsity race.
The junior high girls followed a similar approach, placing two runners in the top seven and four among the first 26 finishers. Avery L. led the group in fifth place, and Hilary E. finished seventh. Katelyn M. added a 22nd-place result, followed by Ada M. in 26th and Clare L. in 49th. The collection of finishes carried Sacred Heart to third place in the junior high team standings.
The meet provided an early measure of Sacred Heart's ability to combine front-running performances with pack support. The Indianettes will next race away at the Faith Academy Bellville Cross Country Meet on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. CDT.
