Seaside Seeks League Momentum Against Tillamook

Seaside High School hosts Tillamook in a league volleyball match Thursday, Oct. 15, with a chance to improve its ranking and build momentum against the opponent that accounted for its only league win last season. The match begins at 6:15 p.m. Seaside will look to turn its on-court connections and smart attacking decisions into another victory in the matchup.

Tillamook enters with a 2-3 league record and a victory over Scappoose, bringing a scrappy defense that makes opponents work to finish rallies. For Seaside, the tactical challenge will be finding openings rather than relying on power alone. Its attackers will need to place the ball effectively against a team known for keeping it off the floor. That puts an emphasis on coordination and shot selection as Seaside tries to break through Tillamook's coverage.

Maddie Wagner is a key player to watch for Tillamook, contributing all around the court with smart play at the net and quick movement in the back row. Seaside's Tiera Spivey brings a strong recent stretch of play and hustle into that matchup. Her ability to stay involved throughout rallies will be important against Tillamook's persistent defense, particularly when an initial attack does not produce a point.

At the net, Seaside will also rely on Stella Ensign and Araya Edwards to close the block, a task they have been executing in recent play. Their timing and ability to take away gaps will be central to limiting Tillamook's attacking options. The match presents two connected tests for Seaside: finding space against a defense that extends rallies and denying Tillamook room to attack through its own block.
