Unity Seats Friday Night Lights Event Brings Community Together at North Star
The Unity Seats Friday Night Lights Event will bring neighbors and local law enforcement leaders together Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, for an evening of football and community connection at North Star High School, 400 Ohio St. in Boswell. The game begins at 7 p.m., providing an energetic backdrop for conversations intended to strengthen relationships across Somerset County.
Through the US United Unity Seats program, sheriffs and other law enforcement leaders are paired with community members who hold opposing viewpoints. The program purchases tickets and seats participants together, allowing them to experience the excitement and traditions of a sporting event as neighbors rather than adversaries. Friday night’s gathering will use the shared experience of high school football to encourage respectful dialogue and personal connection across differences.
Representing Somerset County Sheriff’s Office will be Sheriff Dusty, a member of the Somerset County Drug Task Force who also serves as a local auctioneer and Jennerstown police officer, and Chief Deputy Tim Pritts, a task force member, retired professional firefighter and police officer for Summit Township. Lieutenant Nick, a task force member and police chief for Elk Lick Township, will also participate.
The group also includes Deputy Alex Freoni, a retired Department of Corrections sergeant and retired U.S. Navy member; Deputy Jake Metts, a former U.S. Marine; and Deputy Ryan Appel, who currently serves in the U.S. Navy. Attorney David, president of the Somerset Search and Rescue Team, rounds out a group whose backgrounds reflect deep commitments to public service, emergency response and the community.
The sights and sounds of Friday night football will help open the door to a larger purpose. By cheering from the same seats, sharing conversation and learning more about one another, participants can begin replacing assumptions with understanding. The Unity Seats experience reflects the sheriff’s office’s commitment to listening, building trust and helping Somerset County residents find common ground, one conversation at a time.
