Bullock, Brown Headline St. Edward’s Week Across College Football

The uniform colors have changed. The standard has not. Fifty-two former St. Edward football players represented dozens of college programs this week, led by a commanding performance from Davidson quarterback Casey Bullock. The former Eagle accounted for 337 yards in a 28-14 victory over Dickinson, completing 29 of 41 passes for 293 yards and adding 44 rushing yards and a touchdown. Davidson trailed at halftime, but Bullock directed the Wildcats’ second-half response and helped secure their first victory of the season. His production from the pocket and on the move highlighted the poise developed during his time at St. Edward.

Zyion Brown delivered another standout effort in The Citadel’s rivalry game against Charleston Southern. Brown recorded 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, as the Bulldogs pushed their crosstown opponent to double overtime before falling 26-20. His pursuit and ability to finish tackles in space were familiar qualities for those who watched him in Green and Gold. Tyrese Buchanan also supplied one of Otterbein’s most productive offensive performances against Heidelberg, rushing seven times for 29 yards and catching two passes for 31 yards. Buchanan finished with 60 yards from scrimmage in the Cardinals’ 38-0 loss.

Several other Eagles contributed to victories. Brandon White carried five times for 14 yards in Kent State’s 36-15 win over Wofford, while Thomas Aden made a defensive tackle and Nate Gregory joined them on the Golden Flashes’ sideline. Kyan Mason caught a two-yard pass as Akron defeated Robert Morris 45-10. Makhi Boone was part of West Virginia’s 52-7 victory over UT Martin, which had fellow St. Edward alumnus Joel Castleberry on the opposite sideline. Cam Boone made two solo tackles for Holy Cross in a 45-7 loss at Miami University, where Devontae Armstrong represented the victorious RedHawks. Loghan Thomas added two assisted tackles during Notre Dame’s 52-0 shutout of Rice, and Xavier Styles took part in Iowa’s 16-13 rivalry win over Iowa State.

The Eagles’ Football Bowl Subdivision footprint extended well beyond the week’s statistical leaders. Deontae Armstrong and Mason Wilhelm continued their work at Ohio State, while Michael Kilbane and Troy Regovich represented Northwestern and Brayden Thomas continued at Michigan State. The Mid-American Conference again featured a strong St. Edward presence. In addition to Kent State’s Aden, Gregory and White, the conference included Armstrong at Miami, Zach Hackleman at Ohio, Mason at Akron, and Brodon Moore and Ben Roebuck at Western Michigan. Their roles ranged from carrying the ball and making tackles to the less visible responsibilities of blocking, special teams work and weekly preparation.

Former Eagles were also spread across the Football Championship Subdivision, Division II and Division III. Braylen Adams and Jonny Evanchick represented Youngstown State, with Mike Balogh at Colgate, Bradley Eaton at Princeton, Ben Lavelle at Dayton, Matthew Oudeman at Butler and Sawyer Prementine at Mercyhurst. Triston Addison, Ryan Mikovsky and Owen Murtaugh continued at John Carroll; Cy Colvin and Tom Csanyi at Ashland; and Yon German, Luke Hess and Kheyden King at Ohio Dominican. Alec Dabney and Caden Yondo represented Denison, Dawson Filut and Michael Kerr continued at Kenyon, Jonah Koopman and Anderson Soltis represented Walsh, and Chris Moran competed for Baldwin Wallace.

The college contingent also included Aydin Buchanan at Concordia-St. Paul, PJ Barkley at Trinity University in Texas, Jahmal Menefield at Mount Union, Drew Mahle at Washington & Jefferson, Noah Ratchford at Wheeling, Jon Slaper at Findlay and Jaden Woods at Gannon. Wyatt Gedeon and Johnny Hutton III remain part of the growing alumni footprint as well. Some former Eagles filled the box score, while others protected quarterbacks, filled defensive gaps, worked on scout teams or waited for their next opportunity. A lack of an individual statistic in published totals does not necessarily mean a player did not participate. Fifty-two players, dozens of programs and one enduring St. Edward foundation continue to show that the Eagles Everywhere.
