Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. to Headline 2026 Women’s Junior College Basketball Top 40 Showcase

We are proud to share that Taft College Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. has been selected to serve as a headline coach at the 2026 Women’s Junior College Basketball Top 40 Showcase. The event will take place July 10-11, 2026, at College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas and will bring together top junior college basketball talent during an NCAA certified and sanctioned live recruiting period.

This showcase is designed for incoming freshmen, rising sophomores and unsigned sophomores, with college scouts expected to attend from across the country. Representatives from NCAA programs, NAIA institutions, junior colleges and other four-year collegiate associations will be on site, and confirmed scouting services will also be in attendance.

Coach Lagmay expressed his gratitude, "I coached at the two-year college level the last 12 years, and in those 12 years I had the pleasure of having four former players being chosen in the Top 40 representing the state of Montana in the juco showcase held back then in Atlanta, GA. Now I get to add two more representing Taft in California. I am absolutely elated and thankful for this honor, and appreciate kindly the recognition that Director Chad Groth has believed in me to partake in the event."

Taft College will also be represented on the court by two highlighted incoming 2026 freshmen, guard Alexcia Oaxaca and forward Naomi Emecheta. Both student-athletes are from Colorado and played at premier high schools, and this event will place them in front of a broad national recruiting audience as they begin their Taft College careers.
