Cougars Volleyball Sweep Reedley Behind Efficient Attack

TAFT, Calif. - Taft College swept Reedley 3-0 on Friday, October 30, at Reedley College, winning 25-13, 25-23, 25-14. The Cougars finished with 43 kills and a .300 hitting percentage.
Taft opened with its most efficient set, putting down 15 kills against two attack errors on 29 attempts to hit .448. Reedley pushed the Cougars in the second set, but Taft delivered 17 kills and hit .279 to claim the two-point victory and a 2-0 match lead. The Cougars closed the sweep with 11 kills and three attack errors in the third set, hitting .267.
Jadalynn Satele led the attack with 14 kills and no attack errors on 30 attempts for a .467 hitting percentage. She also contributed seven digs and three block assists. Vienna Perier supplied 21 assists while adding eight kills, 10 digs and two block assists, contributing both as a distributor and an attacker.
Jazzahlei Satele anchored the back row with a team-high 17 digs and added seven kills, an ace, a solo block and a block assist. Ku'uleimokihana Manaois also recorded seven kills, hitting .429 with only one attack error on 14 attempts. She provided three of Taft's six service aces.
Shylah Pulu-Havi Valdez contributed six kills on 10 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage, along with three solo blocks and four block assists. Havi Valdez added two solo blocks, one block assist and three digs. Teihanni Tafisi chipped in nine digs, three assists and an ace.
Railye-Marie Makainai-Kon recorded nine assists, three digs and an ace in two sets. Inara Chin Lee added five assists and four digs in one set, while Natalia Strömsdörfer-Meza contributed a dig. Taft finished with 39 assists and 57 digs.
The Cougars recorded seven solo blocks and 13 block assists without a blocking error. Taft plays Porterville College in its next contest on Wednesday, November 4, at 6 p.m. The game will highlight Sophomore Night honoring sophomores in their last year at Taft College. There will be a reception following the game.
