Jazzahlei Satele of Taft College Volleyball Recognized as National Athlete of the Week

Taft College's Volleyball team, the Cougars, celebrates a significant achievement as Jazzahlei Satele, a talented Outside Hitter, has been named the National Two-Year College Athlete of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for Week #2 of 2025. This award highlights her outstanding performance during the team's recent fixtures, where they secured a 4-1 record for the week. The 5'6" star, hailing from Waimanalo, Hawaii, with an educational background from Kalaheo High School, demonstrated exceptional skills on the court. Over the week, Satele played a pivotal role in the team's success, recording impressive stats including a hitting percentage of .331 and delivering 82 kills, 66 digs, 16 aces, and 10 blocks. Notably, Satele played a crucial part in the victory against Ohlone, where she scored nine kills in the decisive fifth set, totaling 24 kills for that match. Her consistent performance is further emphasized by her ability to achieve double-doubles in kills and digs in four out of the five games played. Head Coach Mallori Rossi praises her natural aptitude and strategic acumen in volleyball, emphasizing her innate ability to read the court and make smart decisions. Additionally, he commends her work ethic and leadership qualities, which not only elevate her game but also inspire and uplift her teammates, affirming her role as a key player for the Cougars. Satele's recognition also marks the second consecutive week a player from a 3C2A institution has earned this national accolade, underlining the exceptional talent within these educational institutions.
