TAFT, Calif. - Taft College competed against Reedley College and Fresno City College in Conference Tournament No. 4 on Wednesday, with Kaylynn Killion leading the Cougars by shooting a season-best 78. Killion finished third overall among all golfers in the competition, giving Taft its top individual result of the day.
Killion’s round set the pace for a five-player Taft lineup in clear conditions. The tournament began at noon with a temperature of 82 degrees and light winds of 3 mph, providing a favorable setting for the conference field. Her 78 was 14 strokes better than the Cougars’ next-lowest score and marked her best round of the season.
Keaneh Tauaese recorded Taft’s second-lowest round with a 92, while Lydia Hallbrook followed with a 97. Those three scores gave the Cougars a trio of sub-100 rounds and accounted for a combined 267 strokes.
Jenna Rios added a 107, and Alina Moran completed the lineup with a 111. Taft’s four lowest rounds totaled 374, while all five listed scores combined for 485. The Cougars turned in a steady team performance while measuring themselves against conference opponents Reedley and Fresno City.
Killion’s third-place finish and season-low round provided the strongest takeaway as Taft continued through its conference schedule. The Cougars will next travel to compete in the State Preview Tournament at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.
