Taft Athletics Participates in 2026 Kern County College Night
TAFT, Calif. - The Taft Athletic Department participated in the 2026 Kern County College Night on Monday, September 14, at Dignity Health Arena in downtown Bakersfield. Hundreds of high school students attended to learn about the colleges and universities represented at the event.
Students and parents had access to informational sessions and on-the-spot application assistance, bringing college exploration and help with the application process together in one location. College athletics was among the session topics, giving families a chance to include sports in their conversations about education after high school.
Naomi Emecheta, a women’s basketball student-athlete, and Brock Marton, a men’s golf student-athlete, represented the Athletics Sports at the TC Athletic Informational Table. Both served as student-athlete representatives for the program, bringing participation from two of the sports to the college night alongside the colleges and universities sharing information with prospective students.
The participation also extended to the event’s informational programming. Romeo Lagmay Jr., Sports specialist and women’s basketball coach, presented at the College Athletics Session. While Emecheta and Marton represented the athletics program at the table, Lagmay contributed to the session focused specifically on college sports for students and parents exploring that part of the college experience.
