Taft Men's Golf Volunteers Support Bakersfield Arc Fundraiser

TAFT, Calif. - The Taft College men's golf team took on a service role Oct. 12, volunteering at the Bakersfield Arc Golf Fundraising Tournament. The event coincided with Bakersfield Country Club's 75th anniversary. For the Cougars, the gathering brought community involvement into a setting closely connected to their sport.

Players hit balls for tournament participants, putting their golf skills to use in support of the fundraiser rather than a team competition. That hands-on role connected the Cougars with the people taking part and gave their contribution a place in the tournament's on-course activities.

Networking was another part of the experience. The event helped players become more familiar with courses and personnel, extending their involvement in golf beyond practices and competitive rounds. Working with participants brought a different kind of interaction from a varsity contest, with the focus on helping others and supporting a community event.

The team's responsibilities also included the practical work that comes with wrapping up a tournament. Volunteering meant contributing both golf skills and the extra hands needed after the activities ended, not simply making an appearance at the fundraiser. The Cougars helped clean up and put away the signs, carrying their service through the event's closing tasks.
